Post revolutionary Cuba experienced a huge cultural and creative shift, with some of the countries artists deploying bold visual design to embody the spirit and ideals of the nation. Movie poster art sponsored by the Instituto Cubano del Arte y la Industria Cinematográfica (ICAIC) makes up a huge body of Cuba's posters.
This original 1st edition and hand-signed Cuban screen-print was designed in Havana in 2009 to salute the iconic 1967 American historical crime film Bonnie and Clyde, starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway. This poster was designed for a competition, sponsored by the Cuban Film Institute, that challenged Cuban designers to make a poster for any classic world film. We believe fewer than 100 copies were made of this poster and the poster you are buying is a rarely seen Workshop Proof; only 10 copies of this proof were made.
